With the election of Donald Trump as our next president, there is much speculation and debate as to what the future will bring for the Affordable Care Act (ACA) also known as Obamacare. Although changes are part of the discussion for the future of the ACA, what those changes will look like are not yet known. President elect Donald Trump does not take office until January 20, 2017 so nothing will even start to happen until after the inauguration. And even then, it will take time to implement any changes that will be made.

It is important to understand that health insurance is still mandatory for 2017 and the deadline for signing up is December 15th. If you do not, you will be subject to potential tax penalties. Consult your tax professional to better understand the tax penalty for not having health insurance. Don’t wait until the last minute.
