And They Say The Numbers Don’t Lie….

Let’s talk about numbers.  As you all are very well aware by now, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA, ACA, “ObamaCare”) launched the Health Insurance Marketplace (also known as the Exchange) on October 1 to dismal results.  Consumers have experienced long wait times, crashing websites, wrong information…to name just a few of the problems.  So, now it’s been over 30 days since open enrollment began.  And yet there are still major issues with the on-line Marketplace.  One of the biggest issues that came to light recently surrounds the estimate of monthly premiums that are showing up on Healthcare.gov.  Come to find out, no matter your age, if you are under 50 years of age, the program will show you the cost of a premium for a 27 year old.  If you are 50 to 64 years old, the program is showing monthly premiums for a 50 year old.  And we all know that a monthly premium for a 27 year old will have a cheaper monthly premium than a 49 year as well as a 50 year old versus a 64 year old.  Imagine the sticker shock when you actually went to apply for the selected insurance plan and you were hit with a monthly premium that was 2 to 3 times higher than what was initially advertised!  Can you say “feeling duped,” “shocked,” “mistrustful” of the government now?   Well, you aren’t the only one.

Now why was Healthcare.gov designed to give the general public these numbers?  I’m not sure we will ever know, but maybe they were trying to give false hope to millions of consumers with the belief that monthly premiums would actually be less expensive than what was being said about in the news.

Wouldn’t you be happy if you saw a premium that was considerably less than what you expected based on your age?  I know I would!!  Here at KSSinsurance.com, our quotes provide you with the correct age-based insurance plans that are available to you…without the long waits.  Note though, no one has the government discount (premium tax credit) calculations working yet for their insurance quotes.  So, the quotes you are receiving are the qualified health plans for your zip code, based on some basic personal information without the tax credit.  You just might be surprised at the number of affordable plans available to you…even without the tax credit applied.

So, sorry to burst your bubble….we now know….numbers do lie sometimes.
