We’ve talked alot over the last few months about the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA, ACA, or Obamacare), the expanded healthcare requirements, and the implementation of a new Health Insurance Marketplace (or Exchange). The Marketplace is designed to provide un-insured/under-insured Americans with affordable and accessible health insurance by providing standardized Qualified Health Plans (QHP) and premium tax credits. The amount of the premium tax credits (or subsidies) will be calculated based on the gross family income in relationship to the Federal Poverty Level (FPL) and will be used to offset the cost of monthly premiums.

Sometimes it’s easier to let a picture do the talking. This infographic, by the Kaiser Family Foundation, explains how an individual/family will get health insurance coverage, with or without a tax credit, under the new ACA requirements.
